Marketing with judgment, amplified by AI.
I'm Rubén Romay. Over fifteen years in digital — first through audiovisual, then through marketing. Today I apply artificial intelligence to my daily work to go further with less.
Galician by birth, Mallorcan since the age of eight, a Madrileño for a decade, and back in Mallorca for the good life. This is the story.
I work where three things meet: strategy, creativity and data. I've spent years applying that mix to very different brands. And for a while now, AI in my daily work too — to go further with less.
Three chapters. One single logic.
It wasn't planned, but in hindsight it makes complete sense. Each stage left me something the next ones couldn't have.
I started with a camera before I started with a manual.
I came to Mallorca at eight years old from Galicia, and grew up here. By sixteen I was already shooting and editing videos on my own: friends, local bands, small projects. It was my passion long before I knew you could make a living from it. By eighteen I was taking on my first freelance jobs.
In 2014 I moved to Madrid to study Audiovisual Communication at Rey Juan Carlos University. Four years of the degree combined with freelance audiovisual production: campaigns, commercial projects, editing and photography. Madrid gave me the professional rhythm Mallorca didn't have yet: big teams, real deadlines and concrete briefs.
2009-2014 · First audiovisual steps in Mallorca (with a creative focus)
2014-2018 · Freelance audiovisual producer and director · Madrid
2014-2018 · Degree in Audiovisual Communication · URJC, Madrid
With the camera I learned what I'd later apply to marketing: the importance of the opening shot, the pacing, never losing the viewer's attention. What people now call a "hook" on social media, I'd been doing in the edit for years.
From audiovisual to marketing in six years.
The shift was gradual. In 2018 I joined Bclever App in Madrid as a Marketing and Audiovisual Specialist. For the first time I had to think about content tied to company growth, not just a creative brief. That's where I discovered what I truly love about marketing: the cause-and-effect logic between what you do and what happens next.
In 2020 I began my Master's in Digital Marketing and SEO. I finished it in 2021 and that same year joined Levinson Agency as Marketing Manager. A client portfolio across very different sectors with a 360º approach: strategy, execution and measurement. Google Ads, Meta Ads, technical and content SEO, branding, lead generation, email marketing.
During Levinson I started working remotely and took the chance to move back to Mallorca. The Mallorcan good life had been pulling at me the whole time in Madrid. I still make the occasional trip to Madrid for meetings, but my base is Mallorca. I applied the same setup later at Emotional Events during 2023-2024, by then as a Marketing Specialist focused on live events.

Six years to move from audiovisual to marketing without letting go of either. I never put the camera down — I built it into the way I work.
Today: marketing with judgment, amplified by AI.
By now I've settled into a way of working, shaped by changing a great deal along the way. Strategy first, measurable execution, judgment over noise. And for the last couple of years, a new piece that changes everything.
AI is the deepest change I've lived through since my jump into marketing.
I've spent a while integrating AI and automation into real client workflows. Not to replace judgment, but to amplify it. Produce more, measure better, decide faster.
Workflows with Make and n8n. LLM agents for specific tasks. Assisted content generation with editorial judgment behind it. Today a project that once needed three people can be handled by good automation. And that changes the economics of any consultancy.
Since 2024 · Marketing Manager at a Mallorcan agency, with full autonomy and a growing focus on applied AI
This is the piece changing the way I work right now. You'll see it reflected in how I approach every project: human judgment to decide, automation to execute, data to course-correct.
A few numbers, in case they're relevant.
My real capabilities, no posturing.
I don't claim to be an expert in everything. These are the areas where I do have judgment and results.

The other Rubén.
Living in Mallorca has its perks. One of them is that the weekend plan usually involves sea or mountains without much planning. I'm one of those who believe the balance between working well and living well isn't a luxury — it's a decision.
There's a reason I came back from Madrid: here the days are kinder, the light is different, and you work without missing out on your life.
I still film and edit for pleasure, not just for work. I'm interested in how stories are told and how technology is changing them. Anything to do with applied AI has obsessed me these last few years.
Curiosity that ends up slipping into the work. Almost always for the better.
Four principles I apply to everything.
01. Think before producing.
Before making a piece, a campaign or a website, we talk about what it's for and what you expect. If that conversation doesn't happen, nothing else matters.
02. Every brand needs something different. The rest is a template.
I don't sell prefab packages. Every client has a different context, goals and resources. Adapting to that is half the work.
03. What isn't measured is guessed wrong.
Marketing decisions have to be based on data, not gut feeling. That's why I set up clean tracking from day zero and report with numbers, not vanity metrics.
04. AI doesn't replace judgment, it amplifies it.
I use AI tools in my daily work to move faster. But the judgment stays human: what to do, what to measure, what to discard. Without that head, AI is just expensive noise.
Shall we talk?
If you've read this far, something resonated. The first call is a diagnosis, no commitment. From there we leave with a clear plan and, if we're a fit, a proposed quote.
